Never before has our European Union faced greater existential threats than today. Our Union is more than just a project; it is a shared promise of peace, freedom, and democracy. It is also the best guarantee the people of Europe have in the 21st century for a safe and prosperous future. Today, that promise and guarantee are facing unprecedented challenges both from outside and within the Union. As anti-European and anti-democratic forces rise around the globe, there has never been a more critical moment to stand up and declare that our Union matters!

This year, on Europe Day 2026, 9 May, we all have a unique opportunity to turn the tide. We are calling on you to lead the charge in mobilising civil society to show that we will not allow our Union to be destroyed. Let’s turn this year’s Europe Day into a powerful, continent-wide movement that celebrates our unity, defends our values, and calls for a stronger Union!
